Letters from The Inner Journey

The Habit of Being.

Letters on leadership, the nervous system and the slow work of inhabiting yourself. Written in the first person, as a man who learned this the expensive way, for anyone who leads with a mind that runs ahead of the room.

The Inner Journey is the coaching. The Habit of Being is the writing. They are the same work seen from two sides. The Letters live on Substack, they are free, and they stay free.

The same work, two sides

The work is in, not out.

A journey within, to meet the immature parts that stand in the way of a mature stand: in leadership, at home, in a team, in front of a boss. What runs inside runs outside. The dynamics of the inner system, shadow, gift, and what lies beyond, are the dynamics of every system you belong to.

The practice is small and it is everything: to cross the half second between what happens and what you do with it, lucidly, and to hold that posture. Response instead of reaction. That is maturity. And to go deep enough that it never hardens into another identity, not even a spiritual one.

The Letters are where I look at this in my own life. The coaching is where we look at it in yours.

How the coaching works →

What you receive

A scene. A pattern. A question worth sitting with.

i.

Something concrete

A moment from a coaching room, a leadership team, a morning practice. Never a thesis. The scene does the work the argument can't.

ii.

Something you recognise

The impostor voice that survives every win. The compulsion that isn't a disorder. The two kinds of solitude. Patterns named clearly enough to be chosen differently.

iii.

Nothing to do

No five steps, no homework, no urgency. Each letter stops at the question. What happens next belongs to you.

Who writes them

Pierre-Boris Kalitventzeff

ICF Professional Certified Coach, operations leader, and someone who learned about the nervous system the expensive way. The Habit of Being is also the title of the book I am writing; the letters are where it takes shape in public, where the coaching room, the boardroom and the meditation cushion meet on paper.
