Everything begins with a conversation.

Even the ones we have with ourselves—those quiet, ceaseless dialogues shaping who we are and who we’re becoming.

Judith Glaser (RIP), the founder of Conversational Intelligence (C-IQ) would tell us that conversations are the threads of connection. They don’t just frame reality or shape relationships. They create us. Creation begins in what we say, and what we choose to leave unsaid. Every word holds the power to build trust or fracture it, to spark change or let it fade.

But here’s the paradox: creation doesn’t only emerge from what’s spoken.

Creation emerges from a deeper level: the spaces between words.

You weren’t born thinking. Before any words were exchanged, there was silence—a vast, unspoken presence where everything existed in potential. Without it, we would never notice the words that follow.

Silence is not the absence of conversation; it is its origin.

Silence is the sound of infinite space—the infinite nothingness before Creation, the source of infinite potential.

This essay explores this tension: the interplay between what we say, what we leave unsaid, and the silence that holds it all together. This is a meditation on creation, connection, and life itself.

Conversations Shape Reality

The words we speak, the thoughts we think—they define the world we experience.

“Words create worlds,” they say. And it’s true. Conversations are the mind’s way of making sense of the chaos.

Think about it: every decision you’ve made, every belief you’ve held, every identity you’ve built—all of it has been shaped by some form of conversation.

Conversations:

  1. Make sense of chaos: They categorize and structure the world, transforming the unknown into the familiar. This is a glass. This is a flower. This is me. This is you.
  2. Build connection: They bridge your inner world with someone else’s. “Hi, how did you feel last night when you met your old friends?”
  3. Shape the future: They birth ideas. What begins as a whisper in your mind is refined, shared, and brought to life. “Yes, that’s worth trying—let’s do it.”

Through conversations—both internal and external—the mind projects meaning onto life’s formless essence. These narratives are what help us navigate the world.

But here’s the paradox: this meaning-making isn’t the full picture.

It’s a layer, a lens, not the totality of reality.

And there’s a trap waiting in this layer: the endless chatter of the mind.

When every moment, every object, and every idea is narrated, analyzed, and debated, we lose touch with something deeper. Conversations become noise, thickening the layer until it drowns out the silence beneath—the silence that holds something far more profound.

Silence Grounds Reality

Silence is the unmanifest potential—the source from which all conversations arise.

It is the primordial ground of being, existing before and beyond the constructs of our minds.

In silence, reality simply is. It’s where creation begins, before it finds words.

If conversations project meaning, silence dissolves it, grounding us in presence.

Imagine a musician composing: the notes matter, yes, but it’s the pauses—the spaces between—that transform sound into melody. Without silence, music is just noise.

Silence reminds us of a deeper truth:

  1. We feel the world instead of defining it: Reality doesn’t need words to exist. Silence allows us to experience life directly, without filters.
  2. We see through the stories: Conversations label, categorize, and create objects—even our sense of self. Silence peels back those layers to reveal the essence beneath.
  3. We access true creativity: Inspiration doesn’t come from thinking harder. It arises in stillness, where the unknown whispers its secrets.

In silence, we stop doing and start being.
